Ukraine does not always succeed in effectively countering Russian propaganda; one of its setbacks is the misinformation surrounding general mobilization. This was stated by Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of the Ministry of Defense, in an interview with "Ukrinform," published on February 27.
"Our version of this nationwide effort — let's diplomatically say, not victory yet — involves a massive disinformation campaign they have launched against mobilization," he said.
Budanov urged recognition that the enemy's program "is functioning seriously" and indeed impacts the consciousness of the Ukrainian populace. He recalled publications regarding conflicts with the TCC online.
"If you look, in reality, one or two sharp incidents occur roughly once a week. But when you browse the Internet, it creates the impression that at least a hundred such incidents happen every day," the intelligence chief explained.
According to him, this is an example of professional IPsO aimed at influencing public perception. He also urged acknowledgment that Russia is making efforts to destabilize the political situation in Ukraine.
"Here, as they say, many factors influence this, but such methodical work began in the fall of 2023 and is specifically aimed at preparing for, as they say, sowing distrust in the authorities, which dates back to mid-2023," he added.
Recall that on February 26, Major General Andriy Hnatov was dismissed from his position as the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On February 27, the Ministry of Defense announced his appointment as Deputy Chief of the General Staff.
Lieutenant Colonel Kyrylo Veres stated that in the new 20th Drone Systems Regiment, over 10,000 applications were submitted in a month. There were so many people wishing to join the regiment that they "overloaded" the recruitment center's server.
