President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the significance of involving China in exerting pressure on the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to bring an end to the war.
He made this statement from Abu Dhabi during an online press conference with Ukrainian journalists, reports “Ukrinform.”
“It is crucial to engage China in applying pressure on Putin to conclude the war. For the first time, we are seeing, it seems, China's interest. I believe this is largely due to the acceleration of all processes... Therefore, I consider this an important meeting, and this meeting could lead to a continued dialogue at another level,” Zelensky noted. This included discussions about a meeting between Ukrainian officials and the Chinese Foreign Minister during the Munich Security Conference.
The President also added that Ukraine should actively encourage other countries to pressure Russia to end the war. According to him, the involvement of countries from the so-called Global South is particularly important in this regard.
Background. Zelensky talked about his conversation with the President of the UAE. The negotiations took place in an expanded format and in a one-on-one setting.
