Ukraine will implement the latest Wi-Fi standard. What benefits will this bring to its citizens?

Ukraine will allow the use of a more advanced technology for WiFi, significantly increasing data transmission speeds.

This was reported by the National Commission for the Regulation of Electronic Communications (NCEC). They proposed to the Ministry of Digital Transformation to implement the Wi-Fi 6E radio technology (5945-6425 MHz) in Ukraine, adding the relevant frequencies to the Frequency Allocation and Usage Plan.

The NCEC explained that the new standard will provide:

• an increase in capacity for Wi-Fi networks (480 MHz of additional spectrum), which means higher speeds, lower latency, and the ability to transmit significantly larger volumes of information for Wi-Fi users

• harmonization of the use of radio frequency spectrum for Wi-Fi radio technology with the EU
• the supply of modern radio equipment to Ukraine.

It is noted that the conditions for implementing the latest Wi-Fi 6E radio equipment standard in Ukraine will be similar to those in Europe – based on a general authorization without the allocation of radio frequencies.
