The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant has once again initiated measures to mitigate the consequences of the recent drone strike.
The State Agency for Management of the Exclusion Zone announced this on Facebook .
“Efforts to extinguish the fire have resumed: three smoldering spots have been identified. Two teams of climbers, each consisting of four members, are on site, while a third group is being deployed to partially uncover the shelter structures and extinguish the smoldering areas,” the statement reads.
Currently, working lines have been established on five shafts, and the situation is being monitored using drones equipped with thermal imaging. A total of 91 personnel from the State Emergency Service (SES) and 18 units of equipment have been involved.
No deterioration in the radiation situation at the NPP-OU site and in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone has been recorded. No release of radioactive products beyond established limits has been detected.
At the same time, the SES showcased new photos and videos from Chernobyl.
