The company "Naftogaz" has been tasked with developing a gas import strategy to address a potential deficit in the gas transportation system.
This decision was made during a meeting of the Anti-Crisis Energy Headquarters, reported Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, government officials have already begun preparations for the upcoming autumn-winter period, which was the main focus of the meeting. They discussed gas supply and production in the context of Russian shelling in detail.
The Prime Minister mentioned that the members of the headquarters received information from the Ministry of Energy and "Naftogaz." Special attention was given to the protection and restoration of key facilities in the critical infrastructure of the gas transportation system, storage facilities, and gas production sites. Shmyhal did not provide further details, only noting that the Ministry of Energy would coordinate the process with the military.
The meeting also included reports from the Ministry of Energy, state, and private companies regarding Ukrainian gas production and storage filling, including the planned indicators for this year.
"We are betting on Ukrainian gas and must steadily increase our own production," the Prime Minister emphasized.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that during a massive rocket attack on Ukraine on February 11, production facilities of Naftogaz and a gas extraction site of DTEK in the Poltava region were damaged.
