Ukraine began the Biathlon World Cup, securing ninth place in the single relay event.
The Biathlon World Cup has kicked off, with the first stage taking place in the Finnish town of Kontiolahti.
The opening race of the new season was the individual sprint, where Ukraine was represented by Olena Horodna and Artem Tyshchenko.
For 20-year-old Horodna, this was her debut race in the single relay at the World Cup level. She handed over to her teammate in tenth place, having missed twice during shooting.
Tyshchenko completed his first part of the race with one miss during the standing shooting, and although he was even in seventh place at one point, he dropped to tenth place by the end.
During her second "attempt," Horodna managed to gain one position, finishing ninth, while Tyshchenko maintained his position.
