The Office of the Prosecutor General has announced charges against a Russian Colonel General who orchestrated the strike on the drama theater in Chernihiv last year.
This was reported by the press service of the Office.
Prosecutors remind us that the missile attack on the city occurred on August 19, 2023. The Russians used an “Iskander” missile, which detonated above the theater where an event was taking place at that time. As a result of the shelling, 7 people lost their lives, and nearly 200 local residents were injured.
It is noted that the strike destroyed and damaged residential buildings, administrative structures, vehicles, and other property. Prosecutors emphasize that such actions violate international humanitarian law. For violations of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder, the officer could face life imprisonment.
