The number of foreigners eager to witness the destruction caused by Russian troops in Ukraine is increasing – foreign visitors are coming to the country as part of "war tourism."
Source. This is reported by the German publication BILD.
Travelers, primarily from Europe and the USA, are participating in what is known as "black tourism." According to the publication, this niche in the tourism industry includes trips to sites of tragic events.
In Ukraine, about a dozen companies offer such tours.
The majority of the itineraries focus on Kyiv and its suburbs, where Russian military forces carried out mass killings of civilians.
The cost of the tours ranges from 150 to 250 euros, claims BILD.
Military journalist Andriy Tsaplienko does not see any ethical violations in this.
"Such tours existed even before the full-scale invasion, and since 2014, foreigners have been offering money for trips through the ruins under the guise of journalists or volunteers," he writes on his Telegram channel. "There will be no moral assessment of this business in the face of tragedy. Tourist tours to Chernobyl operated without eliciting significant negativity."
It would only be better if the world could see for itself who the war criminal is, Tsaplienko notes. The main thing is that these funds go to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Background. Recall that the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the campaign posters of the "Georgian Dream" party featuring destroyed Ukrainian cities. The Georgian people need not fear a new war as long as Ukraine resists Russian aggression, the ministry emphasized.
