The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has instructed his subordinates to prepare a strike against Israel. This move is Tehran's response to the attack by Israeli forces that occurred on October 26.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing The New York Times.

Three unnamed Iranian officials revealed to the publication that Khamenei ordered the High Council of National Security to prepare a plan for the attack.

According to them, the Supreme Leader made this decision after assessing the extent of the damage caused by the Israeli strike on Iran's missile production, air defense systems around Tehran, energy infrastructure, and the main port in the south of the country.

NYT sources specified that, as Khamenei stated, the scale of the Israeli attack and the number of casualties (at least four soldiers were killed) are too significant to ignore, and if Tehran does not respond, it will acknowledge defeat.

They also emphasized that military commanders are compiling a list of dozens of military targets within Israel. The strike is likely to occur after the U.S. presidential elections, due to Iran's concern that an escalation in tensions in the Middle East could "benefit" U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Rumors about Iran's Plans

Recall that just yesterday, on October 31, Axios reported, citing sources, that Iran plans to strike Israel from Iraqi territory. The attack may be carried out by pro-Iranian militants.

Sources for the publication clarified that a large number of ballistic missiles and drones are expected to be used during the bombardment.
