In the cities of Kursk and Kurchatov in the Kursk region, as well as in the city of Taganrog in the Rostov region, explosions occurred on the night of December 8. Air defense systems were activated in these areas due to an air attack.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing Russian media and the Telegram channel of Andrei Kovalenko, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
The Kursk region issued a warning about the threat of drone attacks at midnight. By three in the morning, a missile threat was also announced.
Later, Kursk social media began to report on the operation of air defense forces. Subsequently, an all-clear was declared regarding the threat of missile strikes.
According to Russian media, after the air raid siren sounded in Kursk, several explosions were heard.
Additionally, Kursk Telegram channels reported that explosions occurred near the city of Kurchatov, and they were allegedly quite powerful.
Furthermore, footage purportedly from Kursk during this night of "cotton" was shared online.
Prior to this, the Russian publication Astra reported that residents of Taganrog mentioned hearing an explosion.
Russian media stated that there were at least six explosions in Taganrog, and there were sounds characteristic of drones preceding them.
As Andrei Kovalenko, head of the CCD under the NSDC of Ukraine, mentioned in his Telegram at night, Kursk, Kurchatov, and Taganrog are "under attack."
Recall that explosions were heard in Kursk on November 25, and air defense systems were also operational at that time. It was reported that in this city, after drone strikes, the Kaluganeftproduct oil depot caught fire.
And on the night of November 24, explosions also occurred in the Kursk region amid an air attack using missiles and drones. Reports indicated that it was "loud" in the vicinity of Kursk and Kurchatov.
By the afternoon of November 24, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a Russian missile regiment in the Kursk region. Specifically, a radar of the S-400 system was hit.
