The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated funds for emergency recovery work in the housing and communal services sector, as well as for the construction of main water pipelines for Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting reportedly.
According to him, Kharkiv will receive UAH 1 billion, while Mykolaiv region will get UAH 8 billion.
In Kharkiv, this funding will assist local authorities in carrying out urgent tasks related to water and heat supply, as well as wastewater management.
“The fundamental condition for granting the subsidy is that these resources must be utilized by the end of the year. This means addressing the most pressing needs of the city right here and now. These funds are part of our special assistance for the region,” Shmyhal noted.
The head of the government pointed out that a procedure for utilizing the allocated funds was approved for Mykolaiv region during the Cabinet meeting.
“Russian terrorists initially destroyed the Dnipro-Mykolaiv water pipeline, and then blew up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, thereby depriving the city of access to drinking water. The project includes the construction of three water intake sections from the Southern Bug River. We are making the necessary decisions to expedite the execution of all works and minimize the risks of their untimely completion,” Shmyhal stated.
He added that the responsible agencies have been tasked with completing the work in the shortest possible time so that Mykolaiv can once again have stable water supply.
