The newly elected US President Donald Trump, after meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris, stated that the Ukrainian president is willing to make a deal with Russia to "stop this madness."
He shared this information on his social media platform Truth Social.
According to Trump, "Russia has lost 600,000 people wounded or killed in the war against Ukraine," while Ukraine "has lost 400,000 military personnel and many more civilians."
"Too many lives are being wasted, too many families are being torn apart, and if this continues, it could result in something far greater and much worse," he wrote. Trump added that he knows Putin well and that "the time has come for him to act." He believes that China could assist in future negotiations.
Trump noted that both Russia and Iran are currently very weakened, "one due to Ukraine and a poor economy, the other due to Israel and its military successes."
