The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plans to adopt laws necessary for Eurointegration at an accelerated pace.
This was announced by the Speaker of the Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, during the conference "Ukraine's Accession to the EU: Shaping the Transformation Agenda," as reported by RBK-Ukraine.
According to him, the Eurointegration process is colossal in scope and will require maximum clarity and concentration from all democratic institutions, including the need to reform many processes within the Verkhovna Rada.
"Therefore, the first thing we proposed together with colleagues is draft law 8242, which I authored along with Oleksandr Korniienko, Olena Kondratiuk, and many others. This is the so-called fast-track for the operation of Eurointegrational legislation," Stefanchuk stated.
Under the proposal, draft laws recognized as Eurointegrational and that do not raise objections from the government and parliament can be adopted in a single reading.
The Speaker clarified that this mechanism will significantly simplify the procedure for adopting laws necessary for aligning Ukrainian legislation with the standards of the European Union.
"In other words, any draft law recognized as Eurointegrational, which has no issues from either the government—who will submit this draft law—or from parliament, can be adopted in one reading as law. This will greatly simplify the passage of many draft laws," he added.
