The Commander-in-Chief of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, Raimundas Vaikšnoras, acknowledges the possibility of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine. He believes that this matter needs to be discussed.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing LRT.

Vaikšnoras emphasized that Lithuania should also take responsibility for stability in Europe.

"If you ask whether Lithuania could send troops to Ukraine, then, probably, we will consider it. There will be a discussion, and I think we also need to take responsibility for stability in Europe," stated the commander of the Lithuanian army.

Peacekeepers for Ukraine

It is worth noting that discussions about the potential deployment of peacekeepers to Ukraine after a ceasefire have been ongoing for several months. France was the first to bring up this initiative.

As is known, Ukraine has discussed this issue not only with France but also with Britain, Poland, and the Baltic states.

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, President Vladimir Zelensky mentioned a figure of 200,000 European peacekeepers needed to deter Russia in the future.

Later, the head of state clarified that there is currently no precisely defined number of needed peacekeepers. According to him, maintaining peace requires a million-strong army, and the number of peacekeeping troops depends on the size of the Ukrainian army.
