Canada is preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia. This time, it is related to the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children and other civilians by the aggressor country.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing a statement from Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.

"This is one of the outcomes of the Ministerial Conference in Montreal. The new sanctions package was announced by Canada's Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly," Lubinets explained.

At the same time, he emphasized that imposing sanctions is one of the methods of pressure on the Russian Federation.

"We need sanctions not only against the country itself but also against specific officials involved in the deportation of children and the illegal abduction of civilians," the Ombudsman stressed.

As a reminder, earlier today, Canada's Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly announced in Montreal at the Peace Formula Conference that Canada is trying to persuade other nations to lift restrictions on the use of weapons by Ukraine.
