The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed Yevhen Moi syuk and Valerii Churkin as deputy ministers of defense.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced this on Facebook.
He commented on the appointment of the new deputies.
“These decisions are part of a comprehensive approach to strengthening our Armed Forces, modernizing management, and advancing technological development in the army,” the statement reads.
The head of the Ministry of Defense reminded that Lieutenant General Yevhen Moi syuk is one of the most experienced officers in our army and a combat commander. His experience includes commanding Air Assault Forces, serving as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and participating in peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Iraq.
“His area of responsibility will be the development and generation of Defense Forces, including mobilization processes and training of soldiers,” the minister noted.
Captain Valerii Churkin is a leader in military technology innovations, the head of the Center for Scaling Technological Solutions (CSTS) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a combat participant who joined the Armed Forces in the early days of the full-scale invasion.
“As deputy minister, he will focus on defense innovations and the technological development of the Ukrainian army. His unit is already implementing over 50 key projects in military IT and MILTECH, introducing modern solutions on the battlefield. We expect to scale this work in his new position,” the Minister of Defense stated.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the Ministry of Defense will not extend the contract with the director of the Defense Procurement Agency, Maryna Bezrukova. Instead, the agency will be led by the director of another procurement agency of the Ministry of Defense – Arsen Zhumadilov from the State Logistics Operator (SLO).
